3M years of evolution in two paragraphs …

At every stage in human evolution, technology has enabled us to make our lives easier. From Oldowan rock tools to the atlatl to the steam engine and everything along the way. New technology enabled us to hunt, survive, and conquer new areas of our environment that were previously mysterious and scary to us.

Then a bunch of stuff happened …

Now, in the age of AI, which has been with us for decades, we can process massive amounts of data and interact with that data as if it were a human: therapist, advisor, engineer, take your pick. Ultimately, AI as we know it today is setting up the stage for another, possibly the most significant, shift in human evolution. Jobs we were once specialized in and paid handsomely for will now be at the fingertips of someone with an AI chatbot or agent.

Why is it important

At NITM, we’re focused on technology, startups, and people. We’re both at the forefront of acclimating to the AI world, but also being aware of the major changes. As such, we’re learning, adjusting, and improving ourselves daily. This has given us great insight into the potential paths for the future, especially for those who are entering the world of engineering and product, or those who need to make a career shift.

We are constantly speaking with founders, engineers, product professionals, investors, teachers, personal trainers, etc and hearing the fears of what’s coming.

How does it help you?

In all honesty, our take is that things will change significantly, and we will need to prepare for the shift by adjusting our positioning, coalescing multiple skills into a single role, and redefining what we do and how we see ourselves as technology professionals.

Here are some major technology roles we see emerging in the new world of AI.

Senior Personnel Coordinator

This role replaces three legacy roles: project manager, engineering manager, and client liaison. While previously you would need a project manager to keep things on schedule, an engineering manager to ensure engineering talent is delivering on time, and a point person to interact with stakeholders, you now have a single person equipped with various AI tools that can plan, analyze, and communicate effectively.

Think of this person as the team cheerleader/senpai who also knows how to keep things on track.

Tools

  • Favorite ChatBot of your choice or self-hosted solution
  • AI scheduling and email agents
  • Team review, support, and performance assessment tools

Senior Product Coordinator

This role combines the traditional product roles: product manager, designer, and business analyst into a single, more efficient product role. You can envision this role being responsible for crafting the vision, iterating through designs, and producing artifacts that properly communicate the vision, path, and impact. This person would be responsible for specific aspects/features of a product portfolio.

Think of this person as the team visionary who knows how to take in all of the feedback, visualize it, and pump all stakeholders up for the roadmap.

Tools

  • Favorite LLM chatbot of your choice or self-hosted solution which supports integration across multiple tools (PM, Email, Communication, Codebase)
  • Favorite image generation: Figma AI, or whatever flair of the best image generatio nis available
  • Favorite project management tool with AI functionality
  • AI scheduling and email agents

Senior Vibe Engineer

This role combines frontend, backend, and DevOps in super powered engineer. When we think of 20x, we’re not thinking of more lines of code; we’re thinking of more MVP and SLC deliverables. Partnered with coding LLMs, AI Agents, and integrated deployment engines and automated code quality reviews, this individual can quickly iterate on solutions and deliver what the end user truly wants.

Think of this person as the engine of the team whose work is finely tuned by the Product Coordinator and maintained by the Quality Engineer.

Tools

  • The best available coding-oriented LLM: Claude Opus, ChatGPT Codex, etc
  • GitHub or a similar code hosting tool with full code review AI integration
  • Full access to customer and internal documentation resources to coordinate and update documentation
  • Complete CI/CD integration with multiple environment setups

Senior Vibe Quality Engineer

This role is the cleanup artist. AI coding and agents can deliver solutions that do not always adhere to standardsset in the code base, industry standards, and sometimes can even deliver working but fundamentally wrong implementations. This role combines the QA engineer and a new AI code review specialist role into a single role responsible for ensuring quality, user-facing documentation, and a stable product.

Think of this person as the mechanic shop that tunes up the code base, makes sure the product is ready and presentable, and monitors for the best experience possible.

Tools

  • GitHub or a similar code hosting tool with full code review AI integration
  • Complete CI/CD integration with multiple environment setups
  • Full access to customer and internal documentation resources to coordinate and update documentation
  • Full access to customer feedback monitoring tools integrated into the product

How can we help?

AI will affect up to 80% of the economy by automating or impacting up to 10% of their jobs with just the current tech. We’re quickly becoming experts at extracting top performance and results with AI augmented technology professionals. Whether you need:

  • Full team building and management
  • Team training and AI coaching
  • Advisory and consulting

We’re your team on retainer or per hour, based on your needs.

Conclusion

You must augment your skillset, or you'll be replaced.
